Makita: Success takes them from XAL to Navision
The success of power tool company Makita in Russia has transformed their representative office, established in 1997, into a full affiliated company in 2003. This organizational change and the subsequent growth in staff necessitated an upgrade of their ERP-system. Once again Makita turned to Columbus IT Partner for assistance.
The partnership between Columbus and Makita reaches back to 1998 when the first Concorde XAL-solution (now Microsoft Business Solutions XAL) was implemented. When Makita in 2003 needed to upgrade to Microsoft Business Solution Navision the choice was simple.

Fast and automated
Makita chose to replace their existing XAL-system with the advanced Microsoft Business Solutions Navision. The deadlines for the implementation were very tight but the Columbus team rose to the occasion: With in one month all key business operations were running on the Navision-system. The solution has allowed Makita to computerize a number of processes in financial control (fixed assets and salary management) and customer relationship management (sales and purchase planning, supplier and customer account management). The Navision solution has also automated product service support operations such as handling defective products, decision making on warranty/non-warranty repairs, repair pricing, invoicing and customer payment control, parts and component stock management.
More users, more efficiency
The Navision implementation has not only computerized a large number of Makita's business operations it has also made it possible extend the number of users. This is important since the rapidly growing success of Makita in Russia is steadily increasing the workload on each employee.

Long term partnership
